The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 has reached a critical point, with each team giving their all in the Super Eight stage for the four semifinal spots.

South Africa remained unbeaten in the group stage, where they defeated Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal. They continued that winning streak in Super Eight, defeating the USA by 18 runs and following it up with a 7-run victory over England. Quinton de Kock was a key difference maker against England, smashing 65 off 38 while David Miller struck 43 in 28 deliveries to post 163 on the board. Keshav Maharaj picked 2 for 25 in four overs, while Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen and Anrich Nortje did an excellent job to defend 25 off the last three overs.

The co-hosts West Indies had a dominant group stage, beating PNG, Uganda, New Zealand, and Afghanistan. They had a poor start to the Super Eight stage, losing to England by eight wickets but hammered the USA by nine wickets in the second game. Roston Chase picked 3 for 18 in four overs while Andre Russell also bagged three scalps as they bowled out the opponents to 128. Playing his first game in the tournament, Shai Hope blasted an unbeaten 82 off 39 to finish the chase in 10.5 overs.

The defending champions have had a rollercoaster of a campaign so far. After a washout and a defeat against Australia, they secured their place in Super Eight with victories over Oman and Namibia. England thrashed West Indies in the first Super Eight game but fell short by seven runs against South Africa. Jofra Archer (3/40) and Adil Rashid (1/20) did a good job to restrict the Proteas to 163. Their top order couldn’t get going but Harry Brook (53 off 37) and Liam Livingstone (33 off 17) brought them close.
USA: T L A L L
The USA, playing their first ever T20 World Cup, made it to the Super Eight phase with victories over Canada and Pakistan. They haven’t had a great time in this round, however, losing to South Africa by 18 runs and by nine wickets against West Indies.
