The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 has reached a critical juncture, with the race for the four semifinal spots heating up.
Hosted in the USA and the Caribbean, the tournament has been highly competitive, offering a fresh dynamic with bowlers excelling and numerous memorable moments.
The tournament has witnessed two super over finishes, the USA beating Pakistan, and Afghanistan knocking over Australia in a recent Super Eight clash. Top teams such as Pakistan, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka failed to progress to the Super Eight, while the USA advanced in their first ever T20 World Cup.
Initially, 20 teams competed in four groups, with the top two from each group moving on to the Super Eight stage. Now, Group 1 includes Australia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and India, while Group 2 features the West Indies, England, South Africa, and the USA.

India and Australia are set to collide in their final Super Eight fixture at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia on June 24. India have won four of the previous five encounters and start as favourites at odds of 1.82 on 22Bet.
India have defeated Afghanistan and Bangladesh in their first two Super Eight games and are in a great position. Their batting unit is starting to get amongst runs while the bowling attack remains potent, with Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav in great form.

The Indian batting unit has not been in great form in the ongoing T20 World Cup but the tricky pitches they played in New York had some role in it. Looking at the runs tally in the tournament, Rishabh Pant sits at the top with 152 runs at an average of 38 while striking at 136.
Suryakumar Yadav is second on the list with 118 runs from five innings at an average of 29.5 and strike rate of 130. He has registered two half centuries in the competition. Captain Rohit Sharma scored a fifty in the opening game but has only managed 99 runs across five innings at 25 average and 125 strike rate.
Hardik Pandya, who had an awful time in the Indian Premier League, has looked in good touch this tournament. He has scored 89 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 141, including a fifty in the previous game against Bangladesh. Shivam Dube struck 34 off 24 in the previous game but has made only 78 runs across five innings at a strike rate of 101.
Virat Kohli’s returns have been the biggest shock in the competition with only 66 runs from five games at 13 average and 108 strike. He found some form in the last game, scoring 37 off 28 deliveries.

Moving on to the big question, between India’s highest run-getters so far, the bookmakers have Rishabh Pant ahead of Suryakumar Yadav to be the top India batter in the T20 World Cup.
The left-hand batter has not scored a fifty in the tournament but has been very consistent.
