Copa America: Brazil vs Colombia Preview & Betting Tips

Copa America Brazil vs Colombia Preview & Betting Tips

After finding their rhythm against Paraguay, Brazil will look to build on the momentum as they prepare for a crunch clash with Colombia. Los Cafeteros currently lead Group D with two back-to-back wins under their belt. Can Brazil dethrone them at the Levi’s Stadium on Tuesday? Check out our Brazil vs Colombia betting tips and preview.

Brazil can secure a place in the knockout stages of the Copa America for a third time in a row with just a point against Colombia on Tuesday at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco. A 4-1 victory over Paraguay on matchday two has propelled the Selecao into second place in Group D, giving them some respite after a disappointing display in their goalless stalemate against Costa Rica.

Victories in their opening Group D games have positioned Colombia to claim top spot. They hold a two-point advantage over Brazil, meaning a draw would still see them finish atop the group. Nestor Lorenzo’s men are currently on a 25-match unbeaten run. They have been nothing short of spectacular since the turn of the year, having won all six of their matches in 2024.

Under present circumstances, Colombia are in pole position to secure the Copa America Group D top spot. However, they face a formidable opponent in Brazil, a team boasting an unparalleled trophy cabinet – five World Cups and nine Copa America titles. With morale likely dented after their recent struggles, Brazil will be desperate for a victory against their South American neighbours.

Brazil Team Preview

BrazilBrazil’s wastefulness in front of goal threatened a repeat of their opening match woes on Friday. Squandering a penalty and a host of other chances for over half an hour, Dorival Junior’s side seemed destined for frustration.

However, unlike their first outing, the Selecao eventually found their shooting boots, running riot to secure their biggest win since September 2023. This dominant performance marks the end of a four-game winless run against CONMEBOL sides. They had lost all of their last three games against regional rivals.

With just one more hurdle to clear, Brazil are on course for another Copa America knockout stage appearance. A draw in their final group match would make it 14 qualifications in 15 attempts.

Brazil may opt to rest star forward Vinicius Junior due to a risk of suspension. He, along with fellow Real Madrid players Eder Militao and Wendell, are all on a yellow card and could miss the next game if they pick up another.

The Selecao made two changes to their starting line-up for matchday two. Wendell returned at left-back, replacing Guilherme Arana, while Savio took Raphinha’s place.

Vinicius Jr. fired home a first-half double on Friday, bringing his national team goal count to five. Savio marked his international debut with a goal, while Lucas Paqueta, also walking a suspension tightrope, made amends for his earlier penalty miss by slotting home from the spot in the 65th minute.

Predicted XI: Alisson Becker; Danilo, Lucas Beraldo, Marquinhos, Guilherme Arana; Bruno Guimaraes, Joao Gomes; Savio, Andreas Pereira, Rodrygo; Endrick

Colombia Team Preview

ColombiaBuoyed by their recent success under Lorenzo, Colombia boarded their flight to the USA brimming with belief. They have won their first two games in style and extended their winning run to nine matches under their current boss. Hoping to add another Copa America title alongside their historic 2001 win no longer seems like an audacious ambition.

James Rodriguez orchestrated both goals as Colombia edged past Paraguay 2-1 in their Copa América Group D opener on Monday in Houston. The ex-Real Madrid star boy set up Daniel Munoz to score the first goal of the night. He also served the second goal on a platter for Jefferson Lerma. The first-half strikes was enough to see through a struggling Paraguay outfit.

In their next match, Colombia faced a Costa Rica side brimming with confidence after holding Brazil to a goalless draw. Los Ticos, however, could not replicate their resilience this time. Colombia had 14 attempts on goal and three of those found the back of the net. Luis Diaz broke the deadlock in the 31st minute with a penalty. Davinson Sanchez and Jhon Cordoba struck in the second half to take the game beyond the Costa Ricans.

Colombia also had the last laugh the last time their paths crossed with Brazil. They showed nerves of steel to get back into the game at Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Melendez last November. The home crowd cheered on as Luis Diaz scored a second-half brace for the home side and steered them to a crucial World Cup 2026 qualifier victory.

Concerns swirled around Colombia captain James Rodríguez after he was substituted with less than 20 minutes remaining on Friday. However, manager Lorenzo has assured fans it was a precautionary measure.

Colombia’s preparations for the quarter-finals have been hampered by suspensions, as three players – Jefferson Lerma, Richard Ríos, and Jhon Córdoba – are all one yellow card away from a ban.

Predicted XI: Camilo Vargas; Daniel Munoz, Davinson Sanchez, Carlos Cuesta, Driver Machado; Kevin Castano, Mateus Uribe, Jhon Arias; Luis Sinisterra, Jhon Duran, Luis Diaz
