Who are the semi-finalists?
After 52 matches, four teams have qualified for the semi-finals and they are India, England, Afghanistan and South Africa.
India is one of the only two unbeaten teams with wins over Ireland, Pakistan and the USA (game against Canada was washed out) in the group stage. They defeated Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Australia in Super 8 to top their group and made it to the knockouts.
England, meanwhile, are yet to play their best cricket as their game against Scotland was washed out while they lost to Australia in their next game. But massive wins over Namibia and Oman meant that they made it to Super 8. In this round, they beat the West Indies and the USA but lost to South Africa. However, a big win over the USA meant that they were the first team to qualify for the semis.
South Africa is another team that is yet to lose a game in the T20 World Cup 2024. They registered wins over Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and the Netherlands in the group stage before getting better of USA, England and the West Indies. Majority of their wins have come in the last over but they kept their nerves to win all of them.
Afghanistan have surprised many with their excellent show. They rolled over PNG and Uganda and thumped New Zealand as well in the group stage to make it to the Super 8 round. Here, they lost to India in their first outing but then stunned Australia and defeated Bangladesh in a thriller to seal their position in the final four of the tournament.
Semi-Final 1 – South Africa vs Afghanistan
South Africa and Afghanistan will lock horns in the first semi-final of T20 World Cup 2024 at the Brian Lara cricket stadium, Tarouba in Trinidad. South Africa are certainly the favourites but they have made it to the knockouts in the format for the first time since 2014. On the other hand, Afghanistan is a team that cannot be taken lightly at any cost and it is their first semi-final. It is clear that they will play freely with nothing to lose approach and this is when they will be dangerous.
22bet, Parimatch and 20Bet are some of the best betting websites to bet on during the T20 World Cup knockout games. Here are some of the best odds to prefer during this game.
22bet
Some of the best odds on 22bet for this encounter is the number of fours and sixes a particular team will hit. Looking at the performance of both teams so far in the tournament, betting on either South Africa and Afghanistan hitting a number of fours and sixes would be preferable.
Parimatch
One of the best betting odds Parimatch offers is around the opening partnership of the game. There are three kinds of partnership related bets – Best result of the first partnership, Team 1 total runs before dismissal 1 and Team 2 total runs before dismissal 1. After analysing the opening batters’ form and the opposition bowlers they will face, it will be best to bet on these competitive odds.
20Bet
This betting platform offers exciting betting odds on predicting the player performances. With this being a T20 game, 1.85 or 1.9 odds are offered for runs to be scored over and under 20.5. For example – there is 1.9 odds for Rashid Khan to score under 32.5 which is very much tempting given that he might not get to bat for the major part of the innings. He comes to bat down the order and at max, if he stays in the middle, can muster around 20-25 runs.
Semi-Final 2 – India vs England
The second semi-final is the repeat of the knockout clash of T20 World Cup 2022 – India vs England and the game will be played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. There is a cloud over this game with rain expected to play spoilsport. It is very tough to predict the winner of this encounter as both teams are in great form and some of the best players are locking horns in this match.
However, on 22bet, Parimatch and 20Bet, we can bet on some of the markets with best odds even without predicting the winner of the match.
22bet
Match accumulator outcomes are tempting on 22bet. In this type of betting market, two conditions are needed to satisfy but the returns are also massive. For example – one of the betting markets is on Moeen Ali to pick at least a wicket and also hitting at least one six with odds of 2.5. Now, with the pitch expected to be on the slower side and with India having abundance of left-handers, there is every chance of Ali picking up a wicket. With the bat, he bats at three or four depending on the game situation and is aggressive enough to hit at least a six. Similarly, there are a lot of accumulator outcomes for players from both teams to bet on.
Parimatch
Top batsman and top bowler market for India vs England is interesting on Parimatch. Looking at the lineups of both teams, it is very much given that either Phil Salt, Jos Buttler or Jonny Bairstow will be top-scorers for England. On the other hand, for India it will be Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, or Kuldeep Yadav who will be the top bowler. Now by analysing their records and performance in the tournaments against the opposition players, we can bet on them.
20Bet
On this betting platform, the number of total fours and sixes market for this clash is interesting. With the pitch in Guyana expected to be slow, one can easily predict that it is tough to score boundaries. Another hint for these markets is that India has been hitting more sixes than fours in this tournament and for the men in blue, it is only advisable to go for sixes and over market.
Who will be the finalists?
South Africa vs India
South Africa seem certain to be one of the finalists given their form. They have won seven matches on the trot, their longest winning streak in T20Is. While Afghanistan is expected to put up a fight, making it to the final might turn out to be a long shot for them.
India could be the team finally making it to the final of the T20 World Cup for the first time since 2014. Unlike England, the men in blue have the momentum this time and they are looking more dangerous this time around looking at their intent.
