The Women’s Asia Cup 2024 kicks off on July 19 with the United Arab Emirates facing Nepal in the opening match.

This ninth edition will be hosted entirely at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. The tournament features eight teams divided into two groups, playing 12 group-stage matches from July 19 to 24. The semi-finals are set for July 26, followed by the final on July 28.

Teams
Bangladesh Women have won the Women’s Asia Cup once but their recent form hasn’t been great. They faced India in a five-match T20I series in April-May, which they ended up losing by 5-0.
India Women are the most successful side in the Women’s Asia with seven titles and they are favourites to win yet again. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side recently drew a three-match series against South Africa by 1-1.
Malaysia Women were the runners-up in the Asian Cricket Council Women’s Premier Cup held in February this year. They won three out of three games in the group stage and went on to Nepal in the semi-final but lost the final to the UAE.
Nepal Women last played in the Asian Cricket Council Women’s Premier Cup in February, where they made it to the semifinals. They topped their group with three wins in three games but lost the semi-final against Malaysia.
Pakistan Women, led by Nida Dar, will be aiming for their maiden title but the recent form doesn’t look promising. They lost a five-match series against West Indies in April-May by 4-1 and followed by a three-match series defeat versus England.
Sri Lanka Women lost a three-match T20I series against West Indies in June. Earlier, they had secured a spot in the T20 World Cup after beating the UAE in the semi-final and Scotland in the final.
Thailand Women were part of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in April-May, where they could not get out of the group stage, losing two and winning as many games.
UAE Women, who had won the Asian Cricket Council Women’s Premier Cup 2023/24 earlier this year, missed out on the T20 World Cup qualification after losing the semi-final against Sri Lanka in May.
