It hasn’t been a great start for either Chennai Super Kings (CSK) or Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Both teams have started this 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with multiple losses.
Defending champions CSK have lost three games on the bounce. This is the first time in the history of the IPL that they have lost three matches in a row at the start of the season. Two out of their three matches have been big losses. Their bowling seems to lack bite and the absence of Deepak Chahar has been hurting them.
In the batting department, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s sluggish start hasn’t helped. Robin Uthappa, Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni have got runs but they haven’t fired together to make an impact. Hence, CSK really need to pull up their socks and turn things around as they are languishing at the ninth spot on the points table.
On the other hand, SRH are reeling at the bottom. Their batting has flopped in successive games and the bowling hasn’t been threatening enough. SRH have had the opposition in trouble at times with the ball but they haven’t been able to drive home the advantage. There has been no consistency with the bat. The top-order has failed to get going and Kane Williamson hasn’t had a great start to this season.

Match prediction
Both teams may have started off badly this season but CSK have a far superior head to head record against SRH and have had the upper hand. Hence, they might start as slight favourites and have the winning odds of 1.68 while SRH have the winning odds of 1.99.
Who will win the Man of the Match?
Ruturaj Gaikwad has had similar starts in the previous seasons and he has turned it around for CSK with big scores. Hence, he could be expected to fire and may be a decent contender to be the player of the match. Moeen Ali is a game-changer and can have a significant impact with both bat and ball. For SRH, Nicholas Pooran looked in good touch in the last game and if he gets going, he could be a dangerous proposition. SRH captain Kane Williamson doesn’t go through a lot of games without a substantial score and thus, he could be in store for a big one.
